Almodovar classic

i first saw this in barcelona 2006, bit silly as it was in spanish and i have none. but even then it's colour and vibrancy was very obvious. typically quirky tale, splendidly told. Penelope Cruz gives a magnificant turn, as do all the cast. he really likes to portray his strong women, full of earthy sexiness. the only man of note is a drunken (attempted) rapist. nice to see carman maura back in the fold.
Don't even think about it

My goodness, if not for Penelope Cruz this film wouldn't get a second glance. The cast consists of mainly women (not that there's anything wrong with that), the story is based around a family; two sisters, their Aunty and Raimnda's (Cruz') daughter in Rural Spain (subtitles). I watched the film to the end-but it truly is 'pathetic from Pathe'.
A film about women - NOT a chick flick!

A film populated by women and about women with an excellent lead performance by a stunning woman - Cruz. An interesting story-line follows Cruz, her daughter and her sister and their relationships to each other. Some dark themes are visited but there are also light moments and it all mixes together nicely. Another fine movie by Almodovar.
The worst film ever

I have nothing against sub titles but when there is a voice over describing exactly what you are seeing you might as well be listening to a talking book! Couldn't watch any more than 30 mins of this crap. Don't do it!!! The 1 rating is for Penelope Cruz .. she looks as good as ever.
Highly enjoyable

You either love Almodovar for his surreal outlook of femininity and life and death or loathe him for his ego-fuelled, pompous filmmaking. Personally I love his work and Volver is no exception. Penelope Cruz is stunning in it.
Tragic in places, funny in others and highly enjoyable.
