Well worth a watch!

Despite the fact that the viewer has a fair idea how this story will end, the suspense is maintained throughout through clever direction. Although I find it incredible that well paid actors can't feign some kind of German accent for a historical movie such as this. 'Germans' with English and American accents make a mockery of attempts of all the other accuracies in the movie. Despite this annoyance, it's a great movie and well worth renting...

Excellent

This was a great movie. What a cast! Without exception, great performances. Tom Cruise stepped aside from his heroic typecast to play a real hero and showed the acting skills he displayed in Rain Man and Born on the 4th of July. Despite the fact we all know what happens, the director builds the suspense during the film until the tragic ending. Well worth watching!
Hitler must die

One of the many failed assasination attempts on Hitlers life.
Wasn't sure what I'd make of this as am not a big fan of Cruise. But it was excellent. Even though most people know (or could guess) the outcome, it was still thrilling, and the attention to detail was good. Can't understand why it took so long to make though. Well worth watching.
Why Tom Cruise?
Seamus from Monaghan, 24 Jul 2010
This is a fascinating story from a fascinating period in history. So why was Tom Cruise in it? The story is well told and filmed beautifully, so why Tom Cruise? Offhand I can think of a dozen actors who could act and bring some acting to the part instead of the waxwork that is Tom Cruise. Overlook his wooden-ness and the film works.
Valkyrie

Depressing and uninspired.
Depressing because you pretty much know that the attempt to assassinate Hitler will fail with horrible consequences.
Uninspired because the script is plodding, allows no possibility for real acting - even Bill Nighy is dull. Tom Cruise is badly miscast, simply unbelievable as a Nazi.
