4 out of 10 Engaging.
Ciaran from Dublin, 01 Mar 2007
A strange mix of a true love story mixed up with a period adventure gives us this surprisingly good end product. In a rarely seen period when the Irish overlords battered the doors down of their British protectorates, we get some well rounded and not so obvious characters playing out a true love story. Certainly worth a look if you're at all interested and most people will be pleasantly surprised at what's on offer here.

1.5 out of 10 pretty blaagh
Justine from Meath, 13 Aug 2008
That guy who plays Tristan is well fit though in a rough kind of way. I went to this movie with some blind date, never was i so relieved that it went on so long that he left before the end. Maybe Im just not meant to date , just spend my life watching dopey movies instead. Hurray!

I am surprised by some of that negative reviews. I actually enjoyed this quite a bit, thought the performances were very good. I would watch it again and I would recommend it.

If you were channel surfing and there was nothing else to watch on a rainy sunday afternoon then this film would meet the criteria otherwise I would avoid.

2 out of 10 Not worth the effort.
Frank from Galway, 08 Aug 2007
Not half the movie this could have been, a lot of unfulfilled potential here. Watch it when it's a Saturday matinee on RTE but not worth renting.

What's it about....
After the fall of Rome, the warlords of England are brutally kept in line by the forces of Irish King Donnchadh. One of these leaders, Lord Marke (Rufus Sewell) seeks to unite the English tribes to form one strong nation to rule itself. His greatest knight is Tristan (James Franco), whom Marke raised since he was orphaned in an Irish attack that also took Marke's family. With Tristan by his side, Marke believes he can unify his people and rid England of Irish rule. But Tristan...
