Young Victoria

Wonderful , wonderful movie. I was bowled over by the quality of this dramatisation of the life of young queen victoria. It was far removed for the over sentimental, pompous, overlong films that are usually made in this genre. The cast was fantastic, sets and costumes were stunning, and the story beautifully joyful, sad and heartbreaking. A must see for lovers of history, drama and good old fashioned romance.

If you like costume dramas this will be for you.It is very touching and shows the young monarch as a vulnerable young woman in a time where women were second class citizens. It shows her strength of character and that of Prince Albert and how together they would leave their mark on an age that still owes so much to their forward thinking.Very enjoyable.
Lightweight

For me the character portrayal had to be wrong; one could not imagine such a lightweight ending up as the great Victoria and Albert too seemed a bit one dimential. It seemed to me that the effort to create the genteel era went too far as it seemed to deny the characters any real depth. A bit of a chick-flick I'm afraid but OK I suppose for the genre.

Fairly entertaining love story. Probably not the most historically accurate, and at times Emily Blunt's portrayal of Victoria feels far too modern, but the two leads are engaging. Just don't expect anything too taxing on the mind!
Feisty Young Vicky

This is a great portrayal of Victoria's early years and how she learns to make her own decisions about how she will rule. Wonderful cast, costumes, scenery and dialogue but sadly spoiled by an unbelievably abrubt ending.
