0.5 out of 10 Contender for Worst Movie of the Year
James from Dublin, 20 Sep 2008
The Oxford Murders is easily the worst movie I've seen all year. In fact, it's possibly the worst movie I've seen in several years. It's extremely slow-paced, boring and painful to watch. Charisma free Elijah Wood is the so-called 'Hero' in the movie, and yet, even he looks like he wants to get the hell out of there asap. There is absolutely no character development whatsoever and the acting of everyone involved is simply atrocious. Avoid!

1 out of 10 Murder the script
John from Donegal, 14 Mar 2009
A serial Murderer leaves a criptic clue at the scene of the crime, an Oxford Professor and his 'Protege' try to solve them. I'm a fan of both Hurt & Wood, so was expecting a lot more then this film delivered. Badly Written, edited & acted. By the end I didn't care who did it, I just wanted it to end. I think it was trying to be a cross between Agatha Christie & Morse. It failed.

0.5 out of 10 Absolute Pants!
Sinead from Dublin, 24 Mar 2010
What is so so frustrating about this movie is that it could so easily have been good! But the script was flawed, the 'russian' so badly dubbed that it's comedic, and the acting is woeful - with the possible exception of John Hurt. If you have a desperate need to see a hobbit half naked, fire ahead. But otherwise don't bother.

3.5 out of 10 Outside the box
Trish from Limerick, 08 Jun 2009
I actually found it enjoyable, it made you think outside the box and challenged our normal ideals of what a murder mystery is. Acting leaves a bit to be desired, maybe wrong casting but the character development is good. You think at the end you know who the murderer is but the actual culprit is the last person you would think

0 out of 10 Dreadful beyond the power of words to describe
Cathy from Kildare, 05 Mar 2009
Mind-curdlingly preposterous pseudo-intellectual drivel. Rent it for the person you like the least in the world, and you can laugh while their brain melts trying to process the crud. Don't be fooled by the presence of Hurt and Wood - clearly they got a big fat paycheque for this the sellouts. AVOID like an actual murderer!

What's it about....
At Oxford University, a professor (Hurt) and a grad student (Wood) work together to try and stop a potential series of murders seemingly linked by mathematical symbols.
