Really Very Good

This film was very well made. The actors chosen to play the roles fit them perfectly, including Eric Banna, whom I am not a big fan of but who pulled off a very believable Henry VIII. There were many things about the Boleyn & Henry VIII saga that I already knew about from taking History lessons & being an avid watcher of History channel programming & an avid reader of historical non-fiction most of my life. Having read both books and realising only so much can be crammed into a film without trying the senses of the viewer, I still found too much had been left out. the build up to the accusation of incest and the actual moment occurred did not come across with the same intense sense of anquish as it did in the book also the part played by Stafford, Mary's final husband was not examined as much as it should have been to lend more depth to Mary the person.

I really enjoyed it. I don't know how historically accurate it is but if you take it as just being a film, it's great. I didn't want to miss a second of it. The only negative thing for me was the bit at the end when there's some text about what happens to the remaining characters and I found that a bit fuzzy and difficult to read but maybe that's just my eyesight!
Okay

I thought it was okay although the resident expert who has read the book said she has never been more dissapointed in a movie ever and had been looking forward to watching this so on that basis if you have read the book your more than likely going to be a little disapointed.
Not as exciting as it would like to be

This could have been very entertaining but was damned from the get-go with the casting of Eric "I have no Charisma" Bana as Henry VIII. In general the sumptuous bodices remain unripped as Scarlett and Natalie pout and flounce their way through the movie.
