Worth watching for the story

I really enjoyed this mainly because it helped me to understand the story of Aung Sang Suu and to me more aware of the politics of Burma. It is visually good, and it is worth watching. But the acting is poor, and so much more could have been made of the sacrifice, the conflicts and troubles she endured for the sake of her country. The film runs more like a narrative but has no emotional punch. One annoyance of mine was :he has two beloved sons who appear regularly in the film mostly only to rush down or upstairs or generally rush into the arms of one or other of their parents which is pretty unrealistic for older teenage boys whose lives were made quite tumultuous with the activity and politics of their parents.

Ok

Agree with previous review, I think the film is worth watching to find out more about Aung Sang Suu Ki and her story, but there is something quite cliche about it. I personnally think another director could have given this story a better treatment, the film looks a bit too clean and too predictable. Somehow I found it hard to get into it as it all seemed quite superficial and not really getting under the skin of the various characters. Having said that, it is a good starting point to get an overview of the situation in Burma and one can't help but have admiration for Suu and her resilience.

A beautiful story

A delightful film about a very brave Lady who recently visited Ireland. It is a poignant story of a family torn apart by their beliefs in Human Rights. The photography is superb and the actors make you feel you are living the scenes.
Great inspiring film
