There is no doubting that, while watching 'The Guardian', you will get the feeling that you have seen it all before. There is nothing new here - it's the typical teacher/student angle we have seen in so many other movies. But it's not so bad and is a passing evening's entertainment if you are not expecting the earth. Costner plays the hard, experienced teacher role well while Kutcher is the generic 'jock' needing to be tough a few lessons before showing what a great student he is. Watchable.

I guess by the trailer you know what you are getting so if you like the young cocky student Vs the old tortured master scenarios this fits the bill.
Good insight into the training of cadets into becoming these wondeful lifesavers and you will admire anyone who chooses this as a career. Kutcher slightly better than expected and Coster solid too. You've seen it all before in the likes of Top Gun and Officer and a Gentleman but this is the noughties version. Entertaining enough for a DVD night in.

I felt it was a good movie i enjoyed. It follows the tough training of a team lifeboat.
The coach is pushed into doing training, but after a while bonds with the men from his training and past experiences.
The movie keeps your attention and it not that predictable. The stunts in are realistic. It makes you aware of the dangers that the men risk their life each time the boat goes out.
Kevin Costner and the other main actors/actress work well together.
Movie to enjoy watching! Take

Good for a nights viewing

I liked it. Obviously if you don't like kutcher or costner you won't like this as its all about them. Not a classic but at the same time you know what you're getting before you rent it. Old hero trains young cocky trainee, both learn about themselves etc. A good few hours spent though, enjoyable.
