Plot Is the Real Star. Well Worth a Look.

Bogie fans may not even know this one. Unsurprising, since Humphrey's character (a D.A.) gets little chance to shine. Interesting labyrinth of a whodunnit though, told sort-of in reverse. Full of Runyonesque types, up to no good. Made in 1951, but seems much older. (When the words 'contract' and 'hit' show up, no-one seems to have heard of them before! How we've progressed.) Still, a better movie than half the stuff I've seen in the last year.
