A waste of time

Being a couple of True Crime buffs, we were really looking forward to watching this movie. If you think this movie related in any way to the Black Dahlia case, you are in for a disappointment. The only true facts within this movie were Betty Short's name and the dismemberment of her body. The rest is all total fantasty.
Don't bother, the acting was terrible. At least it got me to look up the correct information about this case again.

Erm, where is the actual case?

The Black Dahlia case has always intrigued me and I was hoping for a strong storyline on the back of it. In particular with Brian DePalma as director. But the movie instead concentrates on the very uninteresting lives of the 2 principal characters, the Dahlia case is reduced to background. And when will Fiona Shaw start acting again instead of giving OTT performances as hysterical cardboard characters???

With such an accomplished cast, i was really looking forward to watching this movie, however it is a major let down due a highly fragmented plot...it's really disappointing even though it looks slick and stylish...however the elaborate costumes and impressive production do not hide the fact that the movie is all over the place..not recommended!
To be avoided total 100% rubbish

Was looking forward to this but it was absolute sh*te so many subplots going on just wished I had checked out the reviews before adding this to my list it robbed me of nearly two hours of my life do your self a favour and avoid at all costs.
Doesnt live up to the book

Very disappointing. For those who have read the book or are just James Ellroy fans, you can see they try to recreate the language and atmosphere, so it does look good, but the plot falls completely flat by the end. Real pity.
