4 out of 10 Very good.
Ciaran from Dublin, 23 Apr 2007
Daniel Day-Lewis stars in this off-beat but excellent movie about a father succumbing to the effects of time on his teenage daughter. When their idyllic lifestyle is mixed up by his move in girlfriend and her two sons they all have to come to terms with how the other half live. Very strong drama.

2.5 out of 10 Good but disturbing
Niamh from Dublin, 18 Jan 2008
Dark drama, strange, and you'd want to be into this type of film, which for the most part I am but I didn't like this particular story that much because I couldn't empathise with any of the characters at all. Good acting, as expected though.

2.5 out of 10 Mixed Emotions
John from Mayo, 08 Nov 2007
I have to admit I foud this film tough going too. The young lead actress is excellent and it does raise so interesting ideas but I can't say that I enjoyed it.

Jack (Daniel Day-Lewis) lives on the site of his abandoned island commune with his 16-year-old daughter Rose (Camilla Belle). Since the breakup of the commune, Jack has sheltered Rose completely from the influences of the outside world, but now his fatal illness and Rose's emerging womanhood pose troubling questions about the days ahead. A man who has lived a life motivated by environmentalism, Jack now rages at those who do not share his aesthetic, like developer Marty...
