2.5 out of 10 Beginning boring - End brilliant
Nicole from Dublin, 15 Nov 2011
I had never ever heard of the Telstar story before. The first 30 minutes I did not even know what the film was about. Totally confusing and really boring. BUT then the film really picked up. Brilliant acting, very entertaining. So.. once you have worked yourself through the beginning, I can recommend it

1.5 out of 10 Mediocre
Emily from Waterford, 06 Jan 2010
Looked good and well acted especially by the main man, but it didn't hit the mark. I came to this completely ignorant about the story of Telstar and the record company, and came away not knowing if it was a success story or about a man's downward spiral. I had to force myself to watch to the end.

2.5 out of 10 Let Down
Lyn from Cork, 24 Mar 2010
This was badly let down by poor editing and direction. This is a great story with wonderful actors, but the way the scenes are cut together is atrocious and the whole thing lacks pace. I am still glad I have seen it just to know what happened to the people involved.

2.5 out of 10 Love it or Hate it
Seamus from Monaghan, 29 May 2011
I loved it but the person I watched it with hated it. I knew the songs and a little about the company and so was interested to see the story unfold. If you're not into 60's music don't bother.

1 out of 10 Just for the hit
Irina from Galway, 22 Mar 2010
I'd say it tells you the story like it was, and just like his life the film is only worth for the music bit, that's all. The rest...not that interesting...

What's it about....
Blackly comic, music-infused biopic about the life - and tragic death - of maverick British songwriter and record producer Joe Meek. Flamboyantly gay in a time when homosexuality remained outlawed, tone deaf, drug addicted, famously paranoid and obsessed with black magic, Meek (Con O'Neill) was responsible for a string of 1960s chart-toppers including 'Have I the Right', 'Just Like Eddie', 'Johnny, Remember Me' and the groundbreaking 'Telstar'. Kevin Spacey co-stars as 'Major'...
