Lovely simple film. the first half is very slow but the pace quickens up half way through. It's a refreshing change to the usual stuff you have about love, of course it's about a Buddhist monk! beautiful shots of majestic landscape but no swirling camera work or dramatic music. almost like a mediation.

As with most cultures the Chinese see the passing seasons as the stages of life. This movie shows those stages from the point of view of a lone man living in the wilderness on his fantasic 'Lake house'. Stunning scenery sets the backdrop for this enlightening tale of time and it's effects on people.

Beautiful movie. A friend of mine watched this a few months back and didn't realise there was supposed to be subtitles and still loved it. Innocence, lust, anger, the cycle of life. All summed up nicely.
Gently provocative reminder of what matters

Lusious photography combines with an interesting and enigmatic story, giving a very human take on Korean Bhuddism, the cycle of life and insubstantial nature of things.
