Real Sci-Fi

Andrei Tarkovsky provides us with a thought provoking Sci-Fi epic that does not allow you to stay one step ahead of the storyline. Both baffling and revealing, Solaris is a work of art.
Considering the enormous restrictions Takovsky was under, the movie is masterpiece with no special effects required and managing to stay true to the original book by Stanislaw Lem.
Avoid the Steven Soderbergh remake and head straight for this version.
Viewer discretion advised!!!

It is a very slow russian movie and one for the purists only. It takes approx 42 minutes before we get to space and if you enjoy a movie where you are looking at lakes water trees etc to the sound of classical music then this is for you otherwise stay well clear and enjoy Steven sodenbergs version!!!
Christian film of the Soviet times!?

It's was great to watch it again...after 30 years! I liked even more now, it literally compells you to look at this life differently why we are here and where we are going, thought-provoking masterpiece by Russian genius!
