reign over me.

Alan Sandler in a serious role?! .. and yes! ... it works! Excellent movie in which Sandler shows his diversity as an actor. Poignant story of Charlie Fineman who lost his family in air tragedy and by chance meets up with old college friend Alan Johnson who endeavours to help his friend. Some nice moments of warmhearted humour between the friends lift the film without detracting from the storyline. Great Bruce Springstein soundtracks - Check out the 'special features' jammin session!

Deeply emotional

An emotional and heart-rending a picture as you'll see in a long while, Reign Over Me allows Sandler the scope to play a multi-layered character and he pulls it off very well. Takes a short time to get going and it's all a bit convenient in places but leave that aside and let yourself be taken with this lovely movie. Donald Southerland makes an appearance late on and is special as usual. Highly recommended.
Good Drama

Well acted by all the cast especially the two main characters. Takes a while to accept Sandler in a serious role but he did surprisngly well. Bit slow throughout and its a very sad story but somehow it just did not engage enough to make you really care that deeply, maybe as it took so long to unravel. Small but memorable appearance by Donald Sutherland, Still worth a watch.
Impressive

I find it very unnerving when a predominantly comedy based actor makes serious movies Let Adam Sandler's previous effort, Punch Drunk Love, prove me right, but I really liked this film.
It was a very profound and moving way of looking at how 9/11 affected those who lost loved ones. Don Cheadle rarely gets it wrong either.
A very much recommended film.
Brilliant!

Adam Sandler proves he can act for sure here. This is a really heart-touching and sometimes hilarious movie. It does for 'feel-good' films what Christopher Nolan does for Batman! No over the top tear jerking, realistic plot line and a great cast with excellent performance from Don Cheadle whoever the hell he is. Great flick!
