Atmospheric and Immersive

The first thing you'll notice about Red Riding Hood is the set -it's a visual feast from start to finish. The alpine village, dark forests, snowy mountains and blood moon make the presence of a werewolf very believable.
Amanda Seyfried plays her role pretty perfectly, and apart from a bit of stereotypical brooding and rivalry, the two main male characters do a good job too, as does Micheal Hogan (Battlestar Galactica) in a supporting role.
This film is all about atmospheric suspense and mystery, znd is a a bit slow to get going. Viewers looking for action and romance are going to be disappointed -this isn't Twilight. Also take note of the PG12 rating. There are a few deviations from the original fairy tale, and while Red Riding Hood is by no means a horror film, there's enough violence and spooky moments to give your average 6-8 year old sleepless nights.

Pretty, but mediocre update of the old fairy tale.

This reminded me of something you could see on the Syfy channel on a saturday evening. It's nice to look at but has a decidedly made for TV feel about it. It's all very corny and the Twilight style romantic elements feel shoehorned in and awkward. I'm not sure why Gary Oldman agreed to be in this but he does his best to elevate it and suceeds for the most part. It's like Van Helsing but not nearly as much fun.
Awful!

It takes an awful lot for me to turn off a movie halfway into it, but this movie merited it. What absolutely useless acting. 15 minutes was all I could watch it for. What a waste of a dvd being sent out, don't even bother with this one!!
Models not Actors
