As already said, this is a frame for frame remake of the excellent Spanish flick [REC] made for people who can't stand subtitles. Being a Hollywood remake didn't add anything, the effects were the same, the acting maybe not quite as good. I wouldn't go so far as to say avoid, like the other reviewer, but this film doesn't add anything either. I think the Spanish version is a bit better and I was well impressed as I don't often see Spanish movies of that level.

Okay so apparently this has been done before but I did not know of the spanish version so may have to check that out. One thing that does annoy slightly is the shaky camera like feel been done to death now what with Cloverfield and the blair witch to mention a few so it has its place but was not convinced in this scenario. Overalll was not a bad horror movie and not a bad idea although as I have already said not hollywoods idea

A reporter doing a TV report on the Fire service is taken on duty, only to find herself trapped in a building with time running out.
This is a remake of a Spanish film Rec, and although I don't think its as good; it was still scary. I felt they could have done more to involve us with the lives of the people living in the building, but all in all, quite good, with a scary ending.
Avoid, rent the original

Why does Hollywood keep doing this, taking on a good film from abroad and making a frame by frame remake with Americans instead. The original of this, REC, was a Spanish film set in Barcelona and was superior to Quarantine in that the remake was completely pointless. As a stand-alone film it was ok but save yourself the bother and get REC instead

dont rent this film, its not bad but its a bad take on the original rec. which, yes, is in spanish but not a hard read, its very good in spanish and the story line is change in the us version
