Great!

As a French teacher, I am constantly on the lookout for French films both for myself and for my students....I have at last found a gem! Most French films tend to be arty and for the younger generation, a tad boring. Myself and my husband (not a French teacher) watched this and thoroughly enjoyed it. Audrey Tatou is engaging and quite easy on the eye (for Himself!). The storyline is somewhat unusual but we were riveted and absolutely loved it!
Well worth watching, whatever your native language

Not worth watching

Thought this movie would be light and funny, an easy watch, but although Audrey Tautou and her male lead are fairly adorable, the undercurrent is quite disturbing. As a female gigolo, she mistakes him for a rich man, he falls for her and she runs a mile when she realises he is poor. So he decides to join her at her own game and becomes attaches himself to an older woman who buys him things. It is a shallow existance and hard to identify with, taking the fun out of the movie.

fun french fluff

Lovely film, with some really nice moments. It has a very strange and at times disturbing moral centre about what is acceptable to do for money, diamonds, watches and friendship, however it is all passed by in such brevity that you can't judge it too harshly. Really nice way to pass some time in front of your local TV
Priceless

Most enjoyable light French production. Audrey Tatou is wonderful. Very watchable but not ,in my opinion, another version of "Breakfast at Tiffenys" as has been suggested. Worth a look

This movie probably wouldnt work if it was english or american. But the two main leads are the quintissential spikey and quirky characters you would expect in a french film. Enjoyable.
