Dreadful, derivative film that wastes good actors.

The badness of Jim Broadbent's accent is in direct proportion to the pseudo-American nature of the dialogue. The good cast are let down hugely by the brutal script. This film is unoriginal and lacking in any kind of authenticity. A good drinking game for this might be to take a drink any time Jim Broadbent's accent changed, someone said "man", or someone uses dialogue that would never be heard in real life. Irish films can be so much better than this.

This is a gangster comedy with some superb black humour.
Fantastic cast, Cillian Murphy is brilliant as the Dublin chancer who ends up with a bounty placed on him when he fails to repay a debt. Jim Broadbent as his father is IMO absolutely brilliant. And of course Brendan Gleeson as ever delivers superbly.

I was expecting something like the great irish movie I WENT DOWN also with brendan gleeson (check it out if you havent seen it ) but no this is actualy quite poor and a waste of great talent and yes jim broadbent hang your head in shame that accent and some of your acting just really really awful

Except for Broadbent's awful Oirish accent this is a terrific film. The acting (apart from the Oirish accent) is top notch. and Jim Broadbent is his usual brilliant self but inflicted with a dreadful accent for no good reason. The story is engaging and there is plenty to hold your attention.

Just watched this, found it very good and very funny!! Just didnt think Jim Broadbent's Irish accent was great. Its worth watching, but alas it does seem to imitate all other Dublin gangster movies.... but I will say again it was funny and I did enjoy it!!
