5 out of 10 Masterclass

One of the few movies I have ever seen that undermined the book. Someone saw that story and wanted to tell it. You get the feeling that the actors read the book and delivered. You will never see acting this good again. This is a great story but you will remember the performances. And you will still remember the story. Uplifting.

4 out of 10 Classic - looking better than ever
Charles from Dublin, 19 May 2010
The bluray brings back memories of watching this in a cinema in its original release. Nicholson is brilliant with an ensemble of unknowns who bring such realism to the characters. Not easy viewing but I'm tempted to buy it, it's that good.

4.5 out of 10 Classic!
Aidan from Dublin, 12 Dec 2008
This is a great movie. Nicholson is superb, definitely one of his best ever roles. He doesn't match the book's description of McMurphy but I couldn't imagine anyone else nailing the part so well. Its a great story.

...the greatest movie of the seventies, if not the past 30 years. If you haven't seen this you haven't lived. Rent it now.

What's it about....
In one of the most memorable indictments of mental institutions, and a subtle examination of male anger, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (based on the novel by Ken Kesey) presents a biting, and ultimately tragic, satire. R.P. McMurphy (Jack Nicholson, in a role it would seem he was born to play), a misbehaving con who shirks authority, finds himself in an asylum after faking insanity to get out of work detail in prison.
