4.5 out of 10 North Country
Frances from Clare, 20 Aug 2008
Excellent adaptation of the story of a woman who initiated a class action taken by a group of women miners in the US - based on a true story. Should be compulsory viewing for all the women who have forgotten the battles fought for equality and for those union people who still have a problem getting their minds around the idea of sexual harrassement.

4 out of 10 Bleak, well acted!
Fergal from Dublin, 05 Jun 2008
A little 'made for TV' but very well acted, this bleak but honest telling of the struggle for equal rights is well worht a watch but isn't for everybody. It can be a little slow but is quiet amazing in that the story relates to a time in the late 80's/early 90's - a time I thought these issue would not have existed.

4.5 out of 10 Top marks
Mark from Dublin, 10 Apr 2007
You can see why Charlize got the plaudits for this again she demonstrates how comfortable she is with any role and goes from strength to strength. The downtrodden battler that she plays so well in this film makes this so well worth a watch.

4 out of 10 Solid.
Ciaran from Dublin, 27 Apr 2007
Good drama with Theron delivering another strong role that displays her versatility as an actress. Well put together and compelling tale of the first sexual harassment lawsuit in the US. Good drama and recommended.

Moving drama about sexual harassment and gender based violence in a small community. Gripping. Charlize is outstanding. Great Extras on dvd too from the women behind the true story!

What's it about....
A fictionalised account of the first successful sexual harassment case in the United States. When Josey Aimes (Academy Award winner Charlize Theron) returns to her hometown in Northern Minnesota after a failed marriage, she needs a good job. A single mother with two children to support, she turns to the predominant source of employment in the region - the iron mines. It's an industry long dominated by men, in a place unaccustomed to change. She is prepared for the back-breaking...
