2 out of 10 Intense...a guys movie
Elaine from Galway, 18 May 2010
This was a good movie. really intense though and outrageously violent....shockingly violent really..if you are in any way squeamish about blood or murdering..well...not a great one.....i had my eyes shut and ears covered a LOT..... it was riveting though. really. take your breath away intensity. really well thought out..and i am sure there are better reviews out there....but....it is more suited towards lads i reckon. this is not a light, feel good movie. at all. but if you are in a brood

4.5 out of 10 Exception proves the rule
Brian from Dublin, 30 Nov 2008
Generally, good literature is hard to translate to the screen. Bourne trilogy makes great viewing but it's airport book fare. All awful Grisham books make better films. Fascinated to see how a Cormac McCarthy would look, but Coen Bros did a terrific job of conveying the nihilism, sense of dislocation and solitude in any and all of his books. This is not the Da Vinci Code - there will be no signposts to help you, but it makes you think about what you're seeing and what you're not seeing.

4 out of 10 Worth Watching for Bardem's Performance Alone...
Ken from Dublin, 29 Apr 2010
Javier Bardem has to have created arguably the most chillingly scary bad guy in the history of the movies, only Laurence Olivier's portrayal of an exiled Nazi in 'The Marathon Man' comes close to Javier's serial killer. Brilliant movie, kept me enthralled and surprised throughout, only let down was the way it ended, it was like they ran out of the movie budget or something, but no doubt they'll tell you it was artistic integrity, nevertheless, still a must see movie.

2.5 out of 10 Anti-climax
Vicky from Dublin, 01 Sep 2008
Got this out as there had been so much good press about the film and the Coen brothers 9/10 times deliver. Whilst this film looks great and is all serious in it's depiction of rising violence in the 1980s - Texas style - it just seemed way too earnest for it's own good. An irritating voice over by Tommy Lee Jones take away from one of the best bad man performances I've seen from Javier Bardem. Ending leaves you mystified as well - but then maybe that's the point!

4.5 out of 10 If you like McCarthy's books you'll love the film
Barbara from Cork, 21 Jul 2008
Have been waiting to watch this for a while now. Definitely worth it! A classic. Great casting. Tommy Lee Jones just gets better and better with age. Javier Bardem's performance is haunting. And Josh Brolin really surprised me. Again, the Coens don't disappoint. Lots of people, however, are disappointed with the ending. I'd say it's as good a point to end the film as any. Not everything in life is resolved, so why should a film have the answer to everything?

What's it about....
Llewlyn Moss (Josh Brolin), hunting antelope near the Rio Grande, stumbles upon a drug transaction gone horribly wrong. Finding bullet-ridden bodies, several kilos of heroin, and a caseload of cash, he faces a choice - leave the scene as he found it, or cut the money and run. Choosing the latter, he knows, will change everything. And so begins a terrifying chain of events, in which each participate seems determined to answer the question that one asks another: how does a...
