Worth a watch if not much else to do

A different type of romance than usual Hollywood fare. The developing relationship between Hurt (Michael) and Blethyn (Alice) is well portrayed. This contrasts with the stifling relationship Alice has with her mother. The pursuit of Hurt by a criminal gang adds a change of pace, but this subplot is not entirely convincing. The Dublin terrace house, with its dated decor gives an authentic feel to the film. The early humour is not sustained throughout. Interesting side characters. Worth a look.

a soft easy going romantic tale with moments of acting brilliance some very disturbing slaughterhouse scenes not for vegetarians
