Mr Books is a film about a sucessful typical family man on the outside with a secret life not even his family knows about. I havent seen a film with Kevin Costner for some time and im really glad I got it and im surprised the ratings are average on this website. Sum1 here called Cosner a block of wood. Mr Brooks is no maniac he knows what hes doing and is very good at it, a calculating indidividual trying to satisfy a dark need he has. Interestingly the film becomes about how he wants to change

creepy but well worth a watch

costner & hurt are on classic form here, sometimes when they laugh it is so well timed you would be hard pressed to believe they are anything other then the same person.engrossing, scary, sometimes funny in a horrible way.i agree with some reviewers here...demi moore-er, no. she is out of her league here. the movie, i would not really watch it on a dark night alone, its not overly gory but when it does happen it is very realistic. its one of those films that would have you checking windows.

just terrible

i really regret wasting my time on this.i was a little dubious to begin
with, what with it containing kevin costner and demi moore.how
these two not only keep getting work but actually get paid the
obscene amounts they do is just criminal.it's a stupid, far fetched
storyline to begin with that no-one should have been interested in
making in the first place, let alone got the funding to do.watch the
medusa touch instead.this is a terrible movie.

Costner comes good.

A difficult one to classify and review, 'Mr. Brooks' is an entertaining movie with some curious cast choices that lift it above the norm. Costner generally plays nice guys and here he is a nice guy - man of the year and all round decent guy but he has an alter-ego. This voice in his head encourages him to kill, not for fun but to satiate his addiction. Costner does very well with this part and it is because of him that the movie succeeds.

Disappointing

This film failed to hit the mark. The characters did not convince, particularly Kevin Costner's. His motive (i.e. a pathological desire to kill) for killing was not believable. The film did successfully build some tension, and I did watch it to the end. However, this tension was marred by the lack of believability in the characters. Average performances, but poor characterisation.
