4.5 out of 10 Moulin Rouge

A really lively love story. The pace is fast and moves effortlessly between song and dance and spoken word. It's clever the way contemporary songs are woven into the early 1900s,sometimes spoken and sometimes sung. The stage sets are spectacular. It has the feel of a carnival.A strong cast is more than equal to the story. It is exciting and tender at the same time.Really well done without a hint of hollywood mucking it up.

5 out of 10 I like musicals

I also like Nicole Kidman. Who could not like Ewan. Me aside, good movies make you feel good. Great movies are another matter. This is not a 'great' movie but I gaurntee (can you spell it) you will want to see it again. Lose yourself in great re-mixes (seriously great - just have to mention Roxanne - umph), eye drawing visuals and Romeo and Juliet seriously updated. Fun. Fun, Fun.

1.5 out of 10 Moulin Rouge

Very disappointed with this film. I think its very slow to start and if your not prepared to stick with this through to the end you can lose the whole story. Ok but would not recommend.

The film, which premiered as the opener to the 2001 Cannes Film Festival, is a musical set in 1899 Paris at the notorious Montmartre cabaret club, the Moulin Rouge. Directed by Baz Luhrmann (WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE'S ROMEO AND JULIET, STRICTLY BALLROOM), the movie stars Nicole Kidman as the high-kicking...
