4 out of 10 Millon Dollar Baby
Brian from Mayo, 19 Dec 2007
Clint Eastwood takes the tired boxing genre and gives it his own twist in this gripping drama. The plot moves along somewhat expected lines (albeit in a superior fashion) until about 30 mins from the end. The twist and its payoff is heart wrenching and brings a real depth to the film. I'm not a major fan of Hilary Swank, but this won her a second Oscar, and she is convincing as the wannabe boxer. Clint himself is excellent, as is Morgan Freeman in the narrator's role.

4 out of 10 Excellent
Dean & Steffi from Meath, 26 Mar 2008
Great film but the saying it's a sad one gives the game away a tad! LMAO! But the attention to detail is fantastic and yer wan looks well fit! Nicely made and the dialogue between Eastwood and Freeman is pure class. Worth a watch indeed.

4 out of 10 Not to be missed
Andrew from Tipperary, 07 Apr 2011
This was on my 'must catch up on' list for ages, and I'm glad I did. The three leads are terrific, and the unusual story really does pull you in. Totally convincing and heartbreaking: first-class storytelling.

What's it about....
Released a little over a year after the grand success of his Oscar-winning feature 'Mystic River', Clint Eastwood returns to the director's chair for 'Million Dollar Baby'. Eastwood also stars, in the role of Frankie Dunn, a down-on-his-luck former boxing manager who spends the twilight years of his life running a small, dilapidated gym in downtown Los Angeles. Frankie's previous career was blighted by an injury to one of his prize fighters, Scrap (Morgan Freeman),...
