Both Film Four & the American Film Institute place this in their Top 100 lists (worth surfing and downloading both, you'll unearth some gems). And it did launch a legendary series. But I cannot see how this is still relevant today, or for that matter worth a watch? The humour is very dark, the pace is slow, there is nothing to delight the senses either visually or in the soundtrack / dialogue & frankly I didn't give a damn about the characters or what came of them! Outdated and should be retir

Only old enough to remember Alan Alda as Hawkeye, I was really looking forward to this. It wasn't what I expected and overall, it did dissapoint. Really only a collection of unrelated set-pieces, you can see why it inspired the series, though the two are very different in tone. Possibly very innovative and fresh in it's day, the novelty is lost on me now. That said, it's not a waste of time, and there is much to amuse in the performances. A young Tom Skerritt is unrecognisable from today.

Good movie, if your a fan of the TV series you might disagree but remember this is what launched that show. Donald Sutherland and Elliot Gould are great as Hawkeye and Trapper John MD. The story-line is a little disjointed at times and the movie is showing it's age, but if you take it as it was meant to be you will enjoy it.
The Sutherland & Gould show

Classic Altman. It's showing its age a little, but this is still a damn fine movie. Donald Sutherland and Elliot Gould were in their element in MASH. How anyone can accept Alan Alda as Hawkeye after watching the original astounds me.
