True to the Book!

This movie was very true to the book, it was beautifully shot but i was expecting it to be in spanish so was a bit surprised it was in English. Javier Bardem is excellent but his charecter is just strange. I found it hard to accept him as someone whose love was rejected and he pined for years. I saw him more as a Stalker!!

I was expecting great things from this film as the book was so acclaimed but it was really disappointing. It never really got going and while it was beautifully shot and the acting was excellent, it lacked depth and never really got under your skin - if that makes sense! I'd say don't bother. Read the book.
Sounds good but fails to deliver

Total yawn fest why this had to be over two hours long is beyond me. Very dissapointing as I had been led to believe this was going to be a good movie. Better title for the film would be My life as a stalker and how I dealt with rejection.
Slow moving and not too interesting

As others have pointed out, the main male character is pretty much obsessessed with a woman he falls for and just doesn't let go of the idea for many years - whether you find that romantic or creepy is the question!

I thought this was a very clumsy film and from another time but not in a good way. I'ed give it a miss and read the book instead. Nuala
