5 out of 10 Fell in love with this film, amazing.
Sarah from Clare, 21 Jun 2011
This is easily the most beautifully animated film I have ever seen, I’m definitely going to buy the blu-ray. It’s not suitable for very young kids, as it isn’t the usual simple, colourful layout that grabs their attention, and is a little bit dark and violent, but I’d say children from 7 or 8 years and up would love it, and all adults should give it a go! The owls are so realistic and gorgeous and the story is well told. I watched this as a skeptical adult, but was blown away. Highly recommended.

3 out of 10 Beautiful but lacks something
Eamon from Meath, 14 Jun 2011
This is one of the most fantastic pieces of animation I have ever seen. The detail is amazing, unfortunately the story is only ok. There is nothing really new here and it does go a little flat in the middle. Worth seeing for it's beauty? For me, yes but if you are not as much into that kind of thing...

0.5 out of 10 Legend if the Guardians
Jane from Wicklow, 08 Jun 2011
This film is brilliant and beautiful. It gives a great appreciation of the beauty and variety of owls and the story itself is interesting and well done by both actors and animators. The scenes of flight are amazing.

1.5 out of 10 Lost in effects!!
William from Wicklow, 26 May 2011
Hardly even kept the kids amused.. Skip it!!! Even the overly publicised effects don't save this..

What's it about....
Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie's, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga'Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie's. The film is based on the first three books in the series.
