4.5 out of 10 As fresh as if made today
Philip from Dublin, 25 Jul 2010
One of Fellini's great masterpieces, this is as fresh and important today as the day it was made. Sprawling, gorgeous, licentious and moving, this is an epic of vacuousness - following the slow disintegration of the integrity of a journalist dedicating himself to writing about the lives of the idle rich and almost famous. The film is full of stunning imagery, not least the great ending.

2 out of 10 Requires patience I didn't have
Eimear from Dublin, 02 Aug 2011
I love italian language and so rented this movie, however I had to fight to stay awake during this film, and actually gave up half way through due to the plot not being apparent yet, and very little of interest happening! Not something I usually do, but I physically couldn't watch any more :-(

2 out of 10 La Dolce Vita
Declan from Cork, 07 Jun 2007
An Italian classic? I got sick of it after an hour. It's not that the film was terrible, rather it was simply too long, too slow and too many annoying scenes to spend any longer reading the subtitles!

What's it about....
Marcello Mastroianni plays a playboy reporter, on the hunt for scandal amongst Rome's high society, in this classic Italian film, directed by Federico Fellini. Both drawn to and repelled by the decadent lifestyle that provides his living, he finds himself torn between his passion for a starlet (Anita Ekberg) and his desire for a Bohemian life like that of his friend (Alain Cuny). The film was considered controversial upon its original release, for its frank portrayal of the...
