Superb take on the super hero origin movie

I had heard that Kick-Ass received good reviews in 2010 but I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got was a treat of a movie which takes the 'birth of super hero' format and gives it a twist. The film looks amazing, has a great soundtrack and is brilliantly paced. There are laughs throughout but they never feel laboured and don't take away from the story. Bring on the sequel!
Ass firmly kicked

The sort of film I shouldn't like, but I loved it. Never mind the ridiculous hysteria about having a foul-mouthed 11 year old as heroine. This is a quite brilliant send up of all those endless stupid superhero movies, and it works by simply following those films to their inevitable logic. Its often hilariously funny, and the fight scenes are brilliantly choreographed.
A truly original super hero

I had been impressed by previous films directed by Matthew Vaughn and this did not disappoint. I cannot wait for his prequel to X Men. This is visually stunning as you would expect from a film based on a comic. The script is acerbic and funny. I loved it and would highly recommend it. Roll on the sequel.
Comic violence

Enaging story and characters with purposely ridiculous fight scenes and story that match the genre. Something to think about though: At one point, we are privvy to a violent and gratuitous scene involving the severe beating of an 8yr old girl, yet somehow it fits.... I'm a bit at odds with that!
KICKED-ASS!!!!
