0 out of 10 Johnny Was...fairly brutal.
John from Cork, 10 Jul 2007
I can safely say that this cinematic clanger was one of the very worst films I've ever seen in my entire existence - and I believe in reincarnation! Vinnie Jones, Samantha Mumba and Patrick Bergen (and that black surgeon from one of those American hospital dramas) battle it out with one and other to steal the title of the show's saving grace and I honestly have to call it as a tie. Not one of them was capable of saving anything, let alone grace. I would strongly advise rental of this 'film'.

3 out of 10 Johnny was not bad
Maggie from Mayo, 09 Apr 2008
I enjoyed this film. While it has a 'B' movie feel to it, it has interesting characters, put together in an entertaining way. The dialogue is sometimes stilted: people 'delivering their lines', but some of the lines are good and made me laugh. The film is a bit corny in places, but it offers a gritty portrayal of some people trying to change, and some trying to stay the same. Some violence, but not extreme.

2.5 out of 10 Johnny was.......just ok
Jennifer from Kildare, 27 Jan 2012
A bit all over the place, what the hell is Eric La Salle doing in this film?! back to ER with him...oh maybe not!! So good acting from everyone but Samantha Mumba she was so wooden it was cringeworthy, and are we really supposed to believe she is a heroin addict with those big bright eyes and perfect skin and not a blemish in sight?! Laughable! But definitely not the worst film ive ever seen.

3.5 out of 10 'Johnny Was'
Mike from Kerry, 26 Sep 2007
Good solid performance from Vinnie Jones. Although he is very much type cast into the "Hard man" role he does carry this off rather well and is the somewhat reluctant hero. Lennix Lewis also provides a stand up performance. Gritty at times, raw in places and delivered beautifully. Set in Brixton, yet shot in Belfast. Gr8 location

0.5 out of 10 Johnny Was

Johnny Was wasn't good at all. If Johnny Was was any worst then I would have pulled the hair from my bald head. The acting was shocking, and I don't mean in a horror film way !!

What's it about....
Stop running. Face the truth. Johnny Doyle (Vinnie Jones) tries to escape a violent past in Ireland to lie low in London, until his former comrade Flynn (Patrick Bergin) escapes from Brixton Prison, hell bent on derailing the Irish peace process. Unable to escape Brixton, they are trapped together in Johnny's anything-but-safe safe house, sandwiched between a pirate radio station belonging to a Rasta DJ (Lennox Lewis) and a West Indian 'Yardie' crackdealing gangster, Julius...
