Overrated & over-long

One of the most uninvolving and uninteresting films I have seen in a long time. The plotline is basically a non-story - what dialogue?, no real villain. A lame story is often rescued by good FX and/or action - this also fails in those respects. Craig is edgier but still, the Bond character has nothing going for him in this film. The change from mechanical killing agent with suppressed emotions to "do his job well" in the first 100 mins. to soppy love-struck James towards the end rings false.

New Bond, new approach.
Out: Gadgets, Q, Moneypenny, huge villian lairs, stupid one-liners, back-projection, ancient protaganists, ropy acting.
In: convincing violence, borderline alcoholism, angst, that torso, convincing villian.
Retaining: Aston, bonking, gambling, locations, bonking.
As a stand alone adventure, this is extremly enjoyable; knowing that the production team had all that Bond baggage to contend with, make this all the more remarkable.
Best bit? Madagascar foot chase.

Very dissapointing. Daniel Craig is a very good actor but doesn't fit the role at all. He is too old to play a 'young bond' just starting out in the double 0 business. The plot was terrible and La Chiffre is one of the weakest villians ever. All the reviews I read were positive and I was expecting a much better film.
Its about 30 mins too long (at least) but there is not as much action as I am used to in a bond. Apart from the chase scene at the start I was dissapointed.

As an avid bond fan, I was a bit disappointed as this movie does not follow the usual recipe - tons of stunts, lots of gorgoeus woman, M, Q and Miss Moneypenny. Granted its supposed to be about his earlier years (before Miss Moneypenny???) and its a darker more psychological aspect of his character that comes out. Its a good movie, the few stunt and action sequences are good (Venice Scene = Wow!!) Just dont expect a typical bond movie. Daniel Craig is very very very good

Different

I'm not really a Bond fan but this was quite different to contemporary Bond. Not necessarily better but definitely different. So I would encourage non-Bond fans to give this a go and see what they think. Eva Green was fair sexy as well.
I suppose you wouldn't blame Bond for the sappy romantic dribble he started coming out with in the end. She would have that effect on most of us!
Pity, though, you don't watch James Bond for romance!
