3.5 out of 10 Hotel Rwanda
Lisa from Kilkenny, 17 Aug 2007
This is a good movie, the detail of the conditions, it gives you a small insight of the way Black people were treated and what conditions were for them and within the Hotel. The acting is good, bit grafic in places! The only thing I would make about the movie is its not suitable for young teenagers, the '12' Certificate! Just because of the grafic detail, I feel this should have been given a 15 Certificate. I feel that too many young people watch too much movies, prog dont fit their age grou

5 out of 10 MUST SEE THIS
Caroline from Laois, 24 Apr 2008
Very distressing to realise what does go on out there in African countries and that what we see and are bored by on the news is nothing compared to what is going on out there. This was some time ago but I would imagine the same things keep happening over and over again while the blue berets watch with 'arms are tied' excuse. I was moved to tears watching this and I think it should be shown in schools. It is an education watching this. A little confusing at times but you're glued to it. Rent it.

4 out of 10 Hotel Rwanda
Tim from Wicklow, 23 Nov 2007
Obviously not light entertainment, but an outstanding film. Without knowing how historically faithful it is, the film certainly portrays a genocidal situation with great power. It is willing to show some of the horrific sights of the times without turning the viewers attention towards the goriness and away from the dramitic human dynamics. Don Cheadle is of course the central character and is excellent, but Nick Nolte's performance is convincing in a more reflective rôle than usual for him.

4.5 out of 10 Outstanding
Barry from Dublin, 25 Jul 2007
Brilliant. In one scene, Joaquin Phoenix, playing a TV News Camera man states: "I'm so ashamed". It didn't need to be said, the scene in question being one of the most powerful I've viewed in the last few years. Nor should that put you off. Yes, the message is hammered home, but that doesn't make the film any less entertaining. And, not unlike Schindler's List, this is a story everyone should be told. The violence isn't graphic, but this wouldn't be suitable for younger children.

4.5 out of 10 Must see
Ciaran from Dublin, 29 Jun 2007
I'd recommend all to see this and 'Shooting Dogs' just so the genocide that occurred will not be overlooked. Both are excellently made and cover the same story of one man's mission to save as many innocents from the rampaging barbaric savages who perpetrated these crimes. The film shows how people can be living beside one another one day ad then be catapulted into civil war and all the atrocities that people can perpetuate in that situation. Excellent movie.

What's it about....
When the world closed its eyes, he opened his arms. Ten years ago some of the worst atrocities in the history of mankind took place in the country of Rwanda and in an era of high-speed communication and round the clock news, the events went almost unnoticed by the rest of the world. In only three months, one million people were brutally murdered. In the face of these unspeakable actions, inspired by his love for his family, an ordinary man summons extraordinary courage...
