Ben Affleck gives a GREAT performance

Hollywoodland is a terrific drama/mystery which deals with the events surrounding the death of the actor George Reeves.
Despite the strong performances from the cast, the real star of the movie is none other than Ben Affleck. He gives an excellent and thoroughly believable performance as the very likeable and charming George. Through his portrayal we experience George’s successes as well as his bitter disappointments. It’s the best performance I’ve ever seen Ben give. Highly recommended.

Slow and authentic

A very accurate period drama detailing the life and death of the first well known Superman actor, George Reeves. Did he kill himself? Was he murdered by his Fiancee? Was he killed by the wife of a crook/movie boss who he snubbed? The movie details these possibilities and some people may find this fascinating. For me it was a little too slow and deliberate. Acting all round was solid though and the attention to detail was excellent.

Compelling

For anyone who likes mysteries this is definitely for you. Ben Affleck really stands out as the elusive George Reeves the film revolves around. There are basically two stories here (could very well have been two films for all that). I liked the Ben Affleck/Diane Lane one better. Diane Lane is terrific and the mood and look of the piece is perfectly captured. Compelling for the murder mystery element.
so-so

The biggest surprise of this film was Ben Affleck. He got a chance to show that he can actually act. Adrien Brody wasn't bad either but you don't expect any different from him. The story was a bit disappointing, especially the ending. I would've preferred a solution one way or another, but the way the ending was, it was unsatisfactory.
Superhero with feet of clay

I really enjoyed this movie and was quite surpised at how good Ben Affleck was in it. He plays the part of actor George Reeves, TV's original Superman. The story focuses on his death and subsequent enquiries by a private investigator (Adrien Brody) in an effort to unravel the mystery and suspected cover up.
