more human than human.

Ok, heres the beef - Hellboy is a unique character - he gets jealous, he's a slob, cranky, vain, sarcastic and downright obnoxious at times...in other words he's human. thats whats beautiful about the Mexican's director's second feature about the flawed 'superfreak' he is physically different (a fact the 'noraml' people keep reminding him of) all the guy wants is to hang out with his girlfriend and waste some badguys. Its a joy to watch this installment in this rather special franchise as it i

Don't miss the first one wait for the third

If you liked the first one, consider this carefully. Its not a patch on the first one bearing in mind you know most of the original characters. If you love set design, costume design and pure imagination without too much CGI then this is a visual feast. A must for any fashion fan or who considers Batmans rig to be a bit drab. However don't expect to eject the DVD wondering when the next film to be released. Its back to the story. Nice to see Ireland featured in it (not sure if they ever went the

Delightfully unusual

Off beat and fun - this movie is not your run-of-the-mill comic hero film. Great characters, lots of intergalatic romance, great action set pieces and even some wonderfully odd Irish references. Del Toro knows how to put together something that is equal parts comedy/action/romance/moral tale/character driver drama. He has given other characters (than Hellboy) centre stage for this installement so perhaps a downside would be that the (anti) hero is perhaps too under developed here

Funny and Entertaining

The thing i found most enjoyable about hellboy 2 is that it does not take itself too seriously. The humour that is evident throughout the film is welcome and does not go over the top. Also noticeable is the directors fascination with clockwork which I found to be cool to look at. Add to this some good monster creation and great action and what you get is a really funny and entertaining movie just as good as the first.

Shockingly good.

Hellboy once more has to fight demons, save the world, and get the girl.
I was fully expecting to hate this, and am not sure how it ended up on my queue. But I'm glad it did. It was brilliant. The script was great, the characters were 3 dimentional, and the dialogue sharp & funny. Anyone who thinks they hate the the mindless comic strip films being made today should rent this to see how good they can be.
