3 out of 10 Watchable if you don't expect too much
John from Dublin, 03 Jun 2008
Pretty standard fare for yet another super-hero comic book to movie conversion. Not great but not too bad. The main character is interesting and played by a pretty decent actor that is not well known for playing lead roles. The rest including supporting actors and plot is very average but watchable. I'd probably watch the upcoming sequel too.

3 out of 10 Entertaining film, nothing more, nothing less
Nguu from Dublin, 03 May 2007
An entertaining and really enjoyable film, nothing more nothing less. Brain not needed but if you are looking for something stronger from Guillermo del Toro try "Pans Labyrinth".

1.5 out of 10 Pure Hell Watching This
Shane from Galway, 07 Jul 2007
I heard nothing but good reviews abut this film so was looking forward to watching it but found it very hard to sit through the duration of the film. Not good at all.

This has to be the best comic to movie crossover ever made. A true work of art and well made.

What's it about....
Based on the comic book series by Mike Mignola, Guillermo del Toro's gleefully eccentric film follows the supernatural adventures of Hellboy (Ron Perlman), a cigar-chomping, horn-filing demonic hero enlisted by an occult scholar (John Hurt) to fight evil in the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense. Along with the fire-throwing Liz Sherman (Selma Blair) and the amphibious psychic Abe Sapien (Doug Jones, with the voice of David Hyde Pierce), Hellboy is joined by new recruit...
