"interesting"

Interesting....great performance from christian slater, and when you see william h macy's name mentioned....well, thats a seal of approval for me. Not a mainstream movie, so if you like 'em quirky, thought provoking etc then it's well worth a look. Not completely satisfying...ending is slightly weak(?)
But for me, overall a pleasant surprise and better than most l've seen lately.

Slater plays against type as the office outcast whom circumstance changes. It's a low key movie with some oddities thrown in for no good reason (talking fish?) but the plot is decent enough. There's some dark humour but no laughs to be had and none of the characters are likable which always makes a movie more difficult to like. But all in all it's not bad.

It's unusual for Hollywood to produce anything original these days and while this is not a ground beaking as some of the things you'l get out of Europe or the American indie scene it's still very refreshing. I thought the ending was a bit of a let down though...

Bit of an arthouse film,if thts the right description for this one ,as the path of this movie is slightly weird, not a great film but watchable, very different for Slatter to star in
