3 out of 10 Harsh Times
Lee from Kerry, 26 Nov 2007
I'm a bit on the fence with this movie. Excellent acting but the most depressing experience ever, especially as both of the lead characters leave you with this feeling of familiarity like you know someone just like one of them, but the name wont come to mind. the ending is inevitable and predictable because the story is all about the ending. It kept my attention but I dont know if I'm glad I saw the movie.

4 out of 10 Bale delivers again.
Ciaran from Dublin, 16 May 2007
Bale returns home from the Gulf war and tries to fit back into his old freestyle life in California. He hooks up with his old mate and they go about half-heartedly looking for work and getting into trouble. Eva Longoria provides ample eye candy but this movie belongs to Bale. The style is similar to the likes of 'Training Day' and you are kept interested from start to credits. Very solid action/drama.

4 out of 10 Bale in on this!!
Ru from Offaly, 02 Nov 2007
A real gritty independent story. Not the usual blockbuster, no brainer from Bale, but a more character based drama with REAL impact. With more acting like this from Bale, we could see him popping in for an oscar or maybe even 2. Eva Longoria shows she's not just a desperate houswife either. A must see for fans of Christian Bale and superb acting all round. Get this one.

4.5 out of 10 Harsh film indeed - but good!
John from Dublin, 09 Apr 2008
Brutal and violent but well made. Good performances from cast. A serious movie which is a step up from the normal holywood drivel. You're never sure in this movie to be disgusted by the main character or actual root for him (secretly). In the end you do more of the latter despite his sins although you may be shocked by some of his actions along the way.

4.5 out of 10 Top film
seamus from Dublin, 20 Jun 2007
If your looking for a feel good movie on a Saturday night with the missus then this is definatley not the one. Hard stuff to watch at times but brilliant at the same time. Bale is fantastic and the rest of the cast are top notch as well. thoroughly recommend it. If you liked training day then rent this
