Very disappointing

I was expecting great things from this film given who is in it, but was very let down by a ludicrous plot and an ending that was just plain silly. Bill Nighy is usually very reliable but he came across as a doddery old twit which didn't really seem to fit with the character. Also David Tennant seemed to be in Hamlet mode - all mad eyes and wild hand gestures - I was quite happy when his character was dispatched! In short, don't be fooled like I was by the stellar cast.

Disappointing

Most Poliakoff films and plays are challenging with a very different view of life but this one didn't really work for me. The background story of English upper class families who saw Hitler as a positive force for good is well known, yet despite an absolutely stellar cast this film was deeply disturbing and upsetting even though the ending was more upbeat. I can't say I enjoyed it at all and certainly wouldn't want to again.
Glorious 39

Upper class British family on the eve of WW11 and conflicting political allegiences as their world starts to fall apart. Remaindes me a lot of Atonement but somewhat more convoluted.
I don't remember!

Since I don't remember much of anything about this film it cannot have been very good. I'm beginning to think I may not have seen it at all! Forgettable (obviously).
Confusing

This is a film which if full of ideas, none of which are explored properly. It is confusing, badly acted and worst of all, very boring.
