Promising but Disappointing

This could have been really good but Cage annoys in the lead role he pouts his way through the whole film sporting his porcelain caps and dodgy hairpiece (sorry Nick no amount of special effects can hide that - you were balding in Moonstruck!) Supporting cast also not great Fonda phones it in as the Devil and oh look - Sam Elliott as a cowboy how original. Some nice effects and sets but wardrobe still falls into the old 'Evil bad guys wearing long leather coats' cliche. Worth a watch if bored!

I'm not going to waste as much time writing this review as I did watching the film.
The best thing in it was Eva Mendes, who never ceases to amaze, she is so fabulous.
The acting from Nicholas Cage was once again criminal and I can't for the love of me understand how he has made it so big.
I would call this film midly entertaining and easy watching but really terrible if you take yourself seriously as a film critic, which I'm sure some people do.
Eva Mendes is gorgeous though

What was Nic Cage thinking of? nothing surprising in this film. You know pretty soon the direction it will all take, the effects are not bad, but nothing to crow about.
All in all very disappointing - glad i never went to cinema to see this. Ok for someone who is bored out of their mind and has nothing to do, at all, and has flicked thru tv to see if anything decent is on and still nothing can be found.

OMIGOD!!! This is SO bad it's not funny. Kept on the shelf for nearly two years awaiting a release, and it's quite obvious why. This is DREADFUL. Forget the notion that you might wanna see a decent comic strip/graphic novel translation of the original, this is not it!! It is truly awful, shambolic, pretentious, corny (in such a wrong way) and doesn't deliver on the special effects

What a strange movie. Big actor and big budget. The film ends up being meaningless and nonsensical and really badly edited. It just falls from one scene to another and then ends. Hollywood throws out a few of these every year and besides the effects there is little to recommend and these are not even that good. The bad guys are awful too and not scary. You are missing nothing.
