Drugged out of your mind

This pseudo factual film takes shows the visit of a journalist with his lawyer to Las Vegas to cover a motorcycle race. However, taking place just after the end of the 60s, their desire to actually do journalistic work is wildly overtaken by the desire to take in voluminous amounts of hugely diverse drugs bringing on crazy hallucinations and extremely alarming public behaviour. Quite a movie with many crazy and highly energetic performances.

Seamless adaptation from the book

I really enjoyed reading the source novel. Terry Gilliam has done as good an adaptation as I think possible. I think I was a bit dizzy afterwards, feeling like being on drug binge for 2 hours - maybe I've had too much coffee. Not sure I'd recommend it to a wide audience. Johnny Depp's performance is excellent but the film is more of a curiousity than anything. At least Gilliam is brave enough to be different in his approach to direction.
