3 out of 10 An "easy watching" rom com.
Karen from Donegal, 10 Apr 2007
If you're willing to suspend your disbelief then this is the perfect romantic comedy for you. SJP is an "expert" on getting 30 something guys to strike out on their own and leave the parental home. Of course Matthew McConaughey isn't just going to be a pushover and he gives SJP a run for her money whilst she spins her web of deceit. Nice secondary love story, and great supporting cast, make for an enjoyable movie that doesn't tax the old grey matter too much. Worth a watching.

3 out of 10 Not too bad
Joseph from Dublin, 12 Apr 2007
I had heard and read some terrible reviews on this movie however I personally found it light hearted and amusing. Don't expect any deep meaning from it but nice over a bottle of beer after a hard day in the office.

4 out of 10 Cheers easy light entertainment

It does exactly that entertain you for a short period of time with some predictable laughs and altogether predictable story but still despite that I enjoyed this movie

2 out of 10 Failure to launch
peter from Westmeath, 21 Jan 2008
Failure for Matthew McConaughey to be in a good film again. The wife seemed to like it though, as long as he keeps taking his shirt off he will get paid.

3.5 out of 10 failure to launch
Teresa from Kilkenny, 22 Apr 2008
if you're in the mood for rom-com, this is not a bad one. Surely the fact that Matthew McConnaughey is in it is nearly reason enough to rent!!!!

What's it about....
Matthew McConaughey is Tripp, a 35 year old who still lives with his parents. And who can blame him? It's free, he's got a great room and mom (Kathy Bates) does the laundry. Desperate to get him out of the house, his parents hire a gorgeous woman, Paula (Sarah Jessica Parker), to give him a little...push. They just didn't expect Tripp would push back! In this romantic battle of wills, there's no place like home...
