After his father is killed in a car accident, things unravel for Kale Brecht and he is placed under house-arrest for punching his Spanish teacher. Having nothing better to do, Kale occupies himself by spying on his neighbors. But one night, he witnesses what appears to be a murder going on in Mr. Turner's house. Kale becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth behind these murders but, after a few unsettling run-ins with Mr. Turner, it becomes a matter of life and death. And the ominous question:

This film was good fun, but nothing more. I'm a fan of both the lowbrow & highbrow varieties of thrillers/horrors, so I don't turn my nose up to the funny low-budget ones. However, because of the cast in this film (Shia La Beouf, Carrie-Anne Moss, David Morse), I expected it to be more of the sinister highbrow variety & it just wasn't. It was great for a laugh, but not really very frightening at all & as the old saying goes 'the plot had so many holes it was like Swiss cheese.'

Like a modern, teen re-telling of Rear Window, this is a solid enough thriller, without troubling the great Hitchcock's legacy. Shia la Beouf is an engaging young actor, but he's no James Stewart, and some of the plot's twists and turns are either predictable or contrived. The focus on the teen actors mightn't hold the attention of older viewers either. Not the worst film ever, just okay.
Worth a watch!

I found this movie very entertaining. The lead is very amusing and is quite close to his personality in Transformers. If you're looking for a thriller but nothing too intense then this is for you. The ending is a bit weak, no real twists or turns but well worth a watch.

I don't know why Hollywood keeps feeling it necessary to remake legendary classics like Rear Window when they know they can't be improved upon. We're so much better off with Hitchcock and Jimmy Stewart!
