1.5 out of 10 Time reduces the horror
Fergal from Galway, 04 Sep 2007
Unfortunately, the only reason someone would want to see this is for nostalgic reasons .. to see how scary a typical horror film was back in the late '70's/early '80's .. i.e. not very scary at all. I do remember seeing the trailer for this back in '83 on a video rental shop's in-store TV (advertising hot movies of the day) .. and the trailer alone, I thought, was terrifying. Still though, there are *some* little moments to be found (e.g. the shot of the captain, looking all Nazi on deck).

3 out of 10 not bad
gerard from Dublin, 28 Sep 2007
I like the old horrors and ghost stories like the hammer horrors and the changeling so i thought this would be right up my street but i was a little disappointed. There wasnt enough scares in this movie for me but it still wasnt too bad. There is a good cast in it and i liked the idea of the film but i think the updated version (ghost ship) with Gabriel Byrne is a bit better.
