Most excellent!

Paddy Considine returns to his small town to sort out some bad types who have been taking advantage of his mentally handicapped younger brother. Queue some crazy stuff as he gets into the heads of all these 'hard nuts' in some bizarre ways. Some of the scenes are unique and this was a massive surprise win for me I can say. This is a modern classic that has to be seen to be appreciated. If yer a fella and you like something a little different, then rent this!!

Had potential but...

...let down by miscasting, the lead actor is just way too soft to be playing the part of a vengeful psychopath, he should have swapped parts with the scar faced leader of the gang - who would have been far more convincing in the part.
The soundtrack is totally inappropriate too.
The sniper scene is so absurd and implausable that the film loses believability from thereon in.
Just about kept me interested by a thread to the implausable ending.

Paddy rocks!

Really enjoyed this one, became hooked quite soon. All you have to do first though is suspend the disbelief that petty criminals would conduct their business from a Citroen 2CV! Paddy Considine is brilliant as the cool and focused brother emabrking on creative revenge. DVD extras are great and feature a very touching and revealing interview with director Shane Meadows
Amazing, menacing and shocking

Hard to praise this enough. Paddy Considine is fabulous as the soldier returned to his grim crappy hometown to confront his brother's tormentors. There isnt a wasted moment in the film and the soundtrack is perfect. You have to rent!

This is a very intense, serious and powerful film. It is very well crafted and the acting is execllent. I would definiely recomend giving it a go just don't expect it to lighten your mood.
