1.5 out of 10 Totally weird
Lyn from Cork, 12 Nov 2009
This cartoon has deeply mixed messages and it feels like something is not right about the story or its writer at all - the motivation behind this is very unclear. While the animation is wonderful I would have deep reservations about showing this to kids.

3 out of 10 One for the kids
Joanne from Meath, 21 Oct 2009
I may have hoped too much for this movie, I expected it to be darker & for older children. The movie is very enjoyable for what it is and definitely a scary one for younger kids.

3.5 out of 10 Enjoyable
Harriet from Dublin, 09 Sep 2010
Quite entertaining and engaging. I thought it was a shame that they didn't preserve more of the atmosphere of the book, which is genuinely chilling in places.

Animation - A girl finds an idealised version of her drab homelife through a secret door her new home. Fun film, strictly for kids. Very good animation.
