Don't normally write things like - I must prefer this film to the book! - but in this case I just do. I found the book just too dark - while the film is much lighter and happier. Just the same is captures the mood of the time - and those chocolate preparation scenes in the kitchen- just made my mouth water!

Enjoyable film if only to see all the chocolate. Recommend it particularly as village life in France looks lovely. Johnnie Depp plays a small role but worthwhile. Feel good movie particularly suited to a sat afternoonl.

What a wonderful & charming film!! This film was not what I expected at all and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. Juliette Binoche & Judi Dench were both fantastic in it as was the brilliant Johnny Depp

When a beautiful woman opens a chocolate shop in a rural French village she shakes up the rigid morality & strict social control of the inhabitants. Johnny Depp alone is worth watching.
