The classic film adaptation of Tennessee Williams great play. Newman plays Brick, the youngest son of a wealthy plantation owner in the 1950s. Tormented by some unknown trauma he drinks heavily and spurns his family, especially his adoring wife. I never understood why women of a certain age found Paul Newmand so attractive and having watched this movie, I now know why. He's hot. The sparks between Taylor and Newman are great and as a viewer you really do feel all the emotions in the film - despising the sister-in-law, embarrassment at how much of a doormat the mother is, the humiliation of betrayal..if you thought your family was dysfunctional this film should make you feel better!
Must see

An excellent movie. Liz Taylor at her most beautiful. Excellent acting all round. Well directed. One of the great movies. Truths about love, jeaulosy, family, emotional baggage and greed. Well worth watching. Paul Newman is a superstar.

This film brings one back to simpler days. It portrays the life in a Southern US family very well but you know they will sort themselves out in the end. Good performances by stars of the era, especially Burl Ives. Well worth watching.
