5 out of 10 Capturing the Friedmans
Jennifer from Dublin, 04 Apr 2007
It doesn't make for very comfortable viewing, but this documentary is incredibly moving. With home scenes actually shot by the family intermingled with news footage, one witnesses the total breakdown of the Friedman family. It also teaches a valuable lesson, that the memory can be fallible. I would thoroughly recommend this film to anyone who enjoys thought-provoking dramas.

2 out of 10 Hard to get into!
Denis from Wexford, 26 Jun 2009
I was looking forward to this movie but found it very hard to get into. I did not finish watching it as I found the documentary style very un-engaging (I watch a lot of documentaries). I just turned it off and went to bed. I scored it at 4 out of 10.

Colette from Kilkenny, 10 Jul 2008
This is a very good, true life. documentary that you go away from wondering who the hell is actually telling the truth. I have my own opinions that i will keep so as not to spoil it. Uncomfortable viewing. Thought provoking

What's it about....
The Friedmans are a respectable, middle-class Long Island family, seemingly addicted to recording their daily lives - first on super-8, then on video. But their world crumbles when the father, a popular teacher, is accused, along with the youngest of his three sons, of molesting schoolchildren. Unbelievably, the arrest, trial and its horrifying aftermath are all chronicled in the family's own home movies, revealing a tangle of contradictions and their comfortable world slowly...
